This week was so fantastic! Monday I was not hit by any tornados and no one in the ward was harmed either. Tornados did touch down in Madison though so when we were getting ready to leave the church where we were playing board games, we got calls from our zone leader asking us to stay in the church. We looked out the window and couldn't see anything but I was told one touched down close by the church.
On Tuesday we were finally able to get in touch with Ally who Sister Schulthies and I met tracting about 1.5 months ago. We taught her about the restoration of the church and she loved it. She had lots of questions and we are excited to teach her the Plan of Salvation. I'm so grateful to be able to share this Gospel with others because it brings so much joy to lives. I know that Heavenly Father loves each of his children! her daughter was there as well but unfortunately not on good terms. Her daughter had been living in Pearl a town not too far away, and a tornado destroyed her home. she was inside her home but she was safe. Her car was not though so Ally went to pick her up and bring her to her home. Fortunately she was in pretty good spirits but keep her in your prayers! We also taught Joel that evening. after the visit we invited him to church and he accepted!
Wednesday we had DDM then lunch at Momma Hamill's. oh dear I left my planner in the car and I don't remember everything that went on that day... in the evening we went to the church to teach the priests how to be missionaries! they did great and are going to be amazing missionaries... some very very soon! we had exchanges that night so sister Keyes came to Madison and Sister Borja went to Jackson.
Thursday... Everything fell through of course on the day I had a sister training leader with me. sister Aker took us to dinner though so that was nice. then in the last hour we were out we were tracting and we were able to teach a roman catholic family and they said they would read the Book of Mormon!
Friday We taught John and Eva! but john just got a new job so they are going to be moving:(
Saturday! Saturday was amazing! We first had a lesson with Mara. she made us breakfast then we started teaching her the restoration. she has taken some of the lessons before and has read the Book of Mormon but for so long wouldn't set a baptism date. The elders had been teaching her but last Sunday she asked if we could and if we could start from the beginning. We also talked about the atonement and we could see her testimony beginning! The spirit was there teaching her and... SHE SET A BAPTISMAL DATE! Mara is the first baptismal date that I have set on my mission! I'm so excited! June 15th! Then while tracting we met Walter. He opened the door and invited us in but we couldn't go in because there was no woman in the home. We began to tell him a little but he had his 2 year old son and he seemed a little distracted. suddenly he said lets go to the car port where its shaded. we can talk there and my son can play. we agreed and met him there. We found out that he had friends that were Mormon but he didn't know much about our faith. WE taught him about the book of Mormon which he thought was really neat. then we asked if we could come back and teach his family. He said his family consisted only of his 3 kids and him so there was never a women home. we told him if he would like us to come back we can bring a woman so we could come in then he said he is a traveling lawyer so he gone a lot and we assured him we could work with his schedule so we exchanged information and he said he would love to learn more! WE are so excited to teach him!
Sunday we had 3 investigators in church!!!! Mara Eva and Joel. After church was dinner with the Robert's. Always delicious. then we went to teach Joel. each time we teach him he becomes more open! he loved church too! in the evening we taught a woman well sister borja did because I don't speak Spanish.... I was able to understand some though! then the bishop and his councilor came and gave her a blessing in Spanish because she just had surgery. I didn't understand everything but the spirit is universal and The spirit was definitely there.
Well that's about it. I love you all!
