Another great week! Monday night the Andersons took us to Jaco's Tacos. Its a really nice Mexican restaurant and we had a good time. During the day we went to the church and played some sports with some of the other missionaries in our zone. that was lots of fun. After dinner we met with a member family. only the kids were home but I was able to practice the restoration with them the 3 kids that were at home were about the same age distance of Kyle Me and chad. It was fun to see them and what the gospel means to them at that age. the oldest is 17 and preparing for a mission!
Tuesday our meeting with Chris got canceled and then our service got pushed back until 2 so we tried to find some other people to teach which didn't go so well. Travis is a less active and he asked us if we could help him and his family ( wife and 2 young sons) pack up. The wife is not a member and didn't know much about the missionaries. The opportunity we had to serve them was great and her perspective on missionaries changed. We wont be able to see them anymore because they moved to Tennessee but we let the missionaries there know and hopefully they will be able to contact them! They were super sweet and fed us and also sent us home with some food that they couldn't take with them! YAY!! I felt like we really needed to meet with Joann again ad we did. She was having a rough day so we shared a Mormon message with her.
We had our district meeting on Wednesday and our Zone leaders came to it. One of our Zone leaders has a sister who married Reid McDowell! Ha that was fun. I love connections! When I told him I was from Gridley his eyes got really excited and told me that. We went to Penn's for lunch and I tried fried catfish! its pretty good. Hush puppies are also real good. We went tracting and met Elizabeth. when she opened the door she got really excited. She is Catholic and attends Catholic High school but has a member friend who she has heard about the church from. we shared the Plan of Salvation with her. and we learned a lot about her religion too:) The Branham's had us over for dinner. they have a cute 3 year old boy who reminds me of Hudson! Brother Branham served a Spanish speaking mission in Alaska! He and his wife grew up in the same town in south Carolina. Heather (the wife) is a convert and she is so sweet. Her dad recently converted as well! they made us BBQ Chicken wrapped in bacon and covered in cheese! YUMM! We talked to them about the importance of scripture study. If we study with a Question in mind we will find the answer.
Thursday we met up with Chris again. I invited her to be baptized but she doesn't quite understand its importance since she was already baptized so after my companion and I went and studied up on the priesthood and how we could better explain authority to her. Dinner that night was with a returning member. She made us some real good southern food. We had Chicken, potatoes with cheese and bacon and sausage and homemade corn bread that was more like cake and collard greens! She wants to come teach with us sometime!
Friday I met Terri. She isn't active because she was offended but she still is very fond of the church and reads her scriptures everyday. She served a mission in California! We talked to her about the Holy ghost and receiving answers to prayers. she is going to fast in order to find an answer to a question that she has had. We were supposed to meet with Jennifer and Randy that evening and the Allmans were going to come but Jennifer and randy had to cancel :( We really hope to meet with them this week.
SATURDAY WE WENT TO CLINTON!!!! We are over Clinton as well as Madison but they are like polar opposites. We tracted there and tried to meet with some less actives and contact referrals with out much luck. Our dinner plans got cancelled so we made arrangements to meet with Karen, a recent convert! I was able to practice the restoration lesson with her. She shared with us what a blessing the gospel is in her life and how she came to be a member. Planting those seeds at a young age makes a difference!
Sunday was great but I'm almost out of time so at the end of our 7 hours of weekly tracting we went to one last house and found Jim! He wants to learn more and we will be meeting with him to teach him the plan of salvation. Also Chris unexpectedly showed up at church! it was so neat. The Allmans fed us some good dinner then we taught a member lesson to The Al-Haltehs. They are from Jordan!
I really love it here and we see little miracles everyday! So glad to hear its raining!
Make sure to take flowers to traci today for anyone who gets a chance!
