We had a fantastic week and I would like to believe that is is because of our obedience to teaching 2 lessons on Monday night and one was a lesson to an investigator in a members home as Elder Zwick had asked! Great way to start off the week!
We have also been asked by our bishop to teach the members of the ward council all of the lessons in preach my gospel so on Tuesday night we went to the Steven's to teach them it was great! and we will be working with them to get referrals. But before all that happened tuesday morning we went to Oak Grove and met as a Zone with President McDonough and his sweet wife. They brought a wonderful treat for us! After going over some missionary stuff and some stuff about the ipads we will be getting before the end of the year, we got to watch MEET THE MORMONS! oh it was so so good! It was fun to watch it with a bunch of missionaries who havent watched tv in a while:) The oak grove ward had lots of treats prepared for us so it was just like going to the Movies... BUT FREE! haha so fun.
Wednesday we taught Eloise. When we got there she was in a wheel chair... she had broken her leg in 3 places! We also taught russell again. I think we might finally be breaking through to him. And we taught Valder. Valder is a man we met tracting who says he doesnt go to church because he is looking for the one that ha the full truth! After those lessons we headed out to rosas. we talked with her and taught her then I pulled out the book of mormon to explain it to her more clearly and she stopped me and said I have to tell you something I just remembered when you got the Book Of Mormon out. She said when she lived with her aunt and uncle in samoa she had pretty much been forced to be baptized by them and because it was a bad experience for her she had forgotten about it. She said it was only bad because she didnt fully understand and it all happened so fast then she moved away and forgot about it. WHAAAAT we thought we were teaching an investigator but now we now we know shes a less active member! That was a crazy experience.
Thursday was the day petal was celebrating halloween because of a football game the HS was having on friday. We met an awesome lady named nicole while tracting and taught JJ.
Friday we went to nancys to teach her the new member lessons since she hasnt been to church in 7 years but has now returned:) However this time her son michale came out and listened! That never ever happens. he is not a member but made comments and asked questions! score! we also met this awesome family from kenya while tracting! first the daughter who is 19 started talking to us. She was raised muslim but went to christian schools in kenya so knows alot about christianity. then her cousin started talking to us. She is catholic and thought what we were doing was really cool so she went to tell her cousin Fatima, the 19 year olds mother, that we were there. She came out and started talking to us. They were so awesome. Fatima grew up christion but took her husbands religion when she married. she still loves Christianity. We had introduced ourselves as missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which they had heard about in Kenya but she didnt realize that meant we were mormons until I pulled out the Book of Mormon. She got so excited and said how much she loves our religion! That was really neat. We could not work after 6 so we had permission to spend halloween night with the ishees. they do trick or treating differently in MS. They all load up on the back of a trailer and drive from house to houese instead of walking:) then we all had dinner at the camp. it was alot of fun.
Saturday afternoon sister boehula carved her first pumpkin! they were given to us by a member to decorate for the ward party. At the ward party we had to be the judges for the halloween costumes. We had alot of fun there.
Sunday we found out that our stake president has been called to be a mission president! He doesnt know where he will be serving but it will be spanish speaking. His father just got called as a temple president so they will both be in those callings at the same time.
Its been a great week. the weather is getting cold. I'm loving the work. I love you all!
