Well this week has been some what of an of an emotional roller coaster. Not particularly because of anything that happened to me personally but just the people that we work with which weighs on us.
I'll let yall in on the little miracles and tender mercies we experienced. Lets see Monday we went to do some service at members home and her mother was visiting and made us homemade tamales! a little taste of home:) yumm! then interviews! We sure do love President and Sister McDonough! we couldnt ask for better mission parents! they always always make us feel loved!
Lets see Wednesday we definitely saw the Lord's hand in our work. We felt like we needed to go to a certain members home even though we had planned for something else at that time so we headed over there. Upon arrival We found this sweet lady crying and having what she later told us was one of the worst days of her life. She allowed us to come in and we just listened to her we felt like we should show her mountains to climb so we pulled up the mormon messages website but up popped a new video that none of us had ever seen an decided to instead watch that. It was Perfect. We were truly instruments in the Master's hand. It was a neat experience to realize that this is His work and he loves his children and will not leave them stranded in times of need.
That evening we got invited over to a family birthday party of a family we met last week. I think I may have mentioned Jodie. Well we were able to meet the rest of her family. they were all so sweet.
At dinner with a member I came to find out that in 2010 Sister Brandon and sister Huckaby's brother, Elder Grover, not only served in the California Roseville Mission but when I saw his picture I said he served in Gridley! As I thought about it I realized he had served in Gridley 1st ward!. when she read through some of his emails he talked about this awesome guy named Don Brown! I told her that's my dad! anyway I thought it was real neat! Heavenly Father knows right where I'm at!
Thursday we had an awesome lesson with a man named Russell and set an appointment to come back. he has met with the missionaries before but would never set an appointment. he really liked what we shared with him and has been reading the Book of Mormon. I cant wait to go back!
I also got ome sadder news about a family in Madison so that was hard to hear but I know that the Lord watches over his children.
In the evening we went to check on an investigator who had dropped an appointment and didnt respond to any messages. when we got there we realized why. She had been doing wonderfully and attending church and loved all of it but her ex husband came into town and was causing some tension. We lover her but we worry about her. I know she will be able to pull through if she relies on the Lord. unfortunately she wasn't at church yesterday. Hopefully we will se her tonight.
Friday we taught a Part member family! It was so wonderful and the dad was at church on Sunday. We watch the Testaments with him and he really liked it.
Saturday we got to go to a baptism for a little girl in the ward. She was so cute!
Sister Blalock fed us dinner! we love her she is a returned missionary and we learn lots from her.
Its been a great week. I love the work! I miss ya'll but know I'm right where I'm supposed to be.
I found this while I was studying yesterday morning and thought I'd share. I've been thinking alot adversity and trials.
"Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want only good for us. No one else can help us in our most difficult hour. If we reject them because of some difficulties, it would be like throwing away a life preserver because it did not keep us from falling into the river."
He loves us. He knows us. He wants only the best for us. He sees the whole picture.
---- Weather...----
One more thing... the weather here is crazy! I have been expecting the worst summer weather of my life as far as heat and weather goes. I heard August was the worst. There have been really hard days but this past week wasn't bad at all. I'm thankful for that! hopefully it will stay that way!
