A most wonderful week we have had!
Monday was so so super busy. We packed all our normal P-day in and still managed to get the car deep cleaned for Zone conference on Tuesday. Early in the day sister Sellers dropped her Special hair cutting scissors while cutting one of the elders hair. since we have to do it outside, it fell on the cement and she can't use them until she gets them sharpened because there are nicks in them. Well she had already promised haircuts to missionaries at zone conference so whats a girl to do? We searched for a place to get them sharpened but no success :( Fortunately a sweet member is also a cosmetologist and allowed Sister Sellers to borrow her scissors! yay! We tried to be lazy and get the car washed at a car wash place because we didn't have any supplies to wash it but that was a waste of money it didn't clean the car just sprayed some water and suds on it. We went to a members home and borrowed some supplies. the car was looking beautiful but then it started to rain!! We still needed to wax it! well we did the best we could and the rain went away for awhile:)
Tuesday up bright and early for Zone Conference! we set the car up and got everything ready and headed inside to be spiritually fed and taught! And that we were! We talked about the Book of Mormon. That was the focus of the conference and we learned so much from each other! Of course we always love hearing from and just being around our sweet and loving President and sister McDonough! After lunch awards were given for cleanest cars! Guess who won for 2013 cars! You guessed it! Petal missionaries! all that hard work paid off! I was so happy! We won the BOSH (Big Ole Shiney Hubcap) award! Then back to continue learning. After all was said and done, Haircuts begin! Haha Sister sellers does a great job everyone really appreciates her. It will be sad to have her go next week but her family will be real excited I'm sure!
Wednesday we did service at sister Tolberts rental house again and Jodi was there again so that was great to be able to talk to her there. Sister Donna Hill had us for dinner then took us to do her visiting teaching to a less active sister who I never met before. it was wonderful.
Thursday we went tracting with Alexis! we had a lot of fun with her. It was hot and she wanted shaved ice which turned into a great finding opportunity because we talked to the man who sold it to us for quite awhile about the gospel and Alexis bore her testimony to him! In the evening we had dinner at kelli hills home then went to sister Stevens to find a less active who had come from the address unknown file. when we got there the woman let us right in and explained that when she had first moved here years ago she looked and called around to find the church but had no success. Before, she lived on the west coast and there were lots of lds churches around and knew exactly where to go. Well our church isnt even in petal so she couldn't find it and gave up! We are so glad we found her and hope she will come and love the ward!
Friday! Friday we went to the Kennedy's. Sister kennedy is from England and had been visiting all summer so I had not met her yet. When I got there they asked where I was from and she got so excited! She said she went to Gridley to visit a couple named Maude and Carlos Rasmussen who served a mission in England. Does anybody know who they are? they passed away before i was born so I don't know them but thought someone reading this might (Al). Then when I told her that my parents lived in England and told them where I Believe my parents lived she said that was in the same stake as her parents were in. So Mom and Dad do yall remember Frank or Anne Clifford from the Aldershot ward in the Redding England Stake? Frank was probably a Stake Music director at the time. Anyway I thought that was neat. Its a small world!
So Saturday was a wonderful day! at about 4 pm we got picked up by the STLs to go to Oak grove where a very well prepared luau open house was going on. We were asked to help direct people to where the tours of the chapel would be. there was singing ad presentations and at the end, food and Dancing! The ward mission leader in Oak Grove worked at the PCC and taught a lot of the missionaries different dances. there was a great turnout. lots of non members and less actives. we had a lot of fun too!
Yesterday church was wonderful.
This morning we had breakfast with sister summers. so sweet of her to have us over!
Well I love yall and hope yall have a wonderful week. Find people for your missionaries to teach!
