So we have had a few opportunities to attend other Churches when we have been invited by someone we meet. So far I've been to a Catholic Mass, and a non denominational church service. Yesterday while knocking doors, we were invited to go to the Parkway Pentecostal church. We accepted the invitation and went to the evening session with a really nice couple. They warned us " You're going to be shocked!" and shocked we were. It was definitely a different experience but they do love our savior and I respect them for that. I think that is one huge lesson I have learned here. While not everyone has the same beliefs as me, the people in the south LOVE LOVE LOVE Jesus Christ. It makes me often ponder how important it is to truly know our savior and live as though he is always walking beside me.
Ok so Monday: well we didn't do much it was our p day but then we went and taught Mara! we answered some questions she had about baptism and more questions about the church. Then we headed over to the Robert's home for some Vietnamese Crepes! They were AMAZING! We went home and met the STLs there for our exchanges. I went to Jackson with sister Devenport and Sister Borja took on Madison with Sister Keyes.
Tuesday: We tried to contact some less actives in the area but no one seemed to be home and the appointment we had for the morning got cancelled. While checking on one address we had been given we noticed it was real close to a lady we had tried to visit last time I was with sister Devenport so we decided to check in on her. She invited us in then proceeded to show us where she had recently fallen and cut her back open 4 inches deep and had to get 17 stiches. um ouch! well She wasn't all in her right mind and needed help with a few things so we helped her out. all our appointments in Jackson fell through. We went tracting which turned into an exciting (not in a good way) event when we started talking to a completely calm man getting a few things out of the trunk of his car when his wife tried RUNNING HIM OVER! se calmly told us they were kinda in the middle of something (CLEARLY) so we left. Then we heard yelling and screaming. We didn't know what to do but decided to walk all the way around the block to where our car was. While waling we felt that we needed to turn around and walk back by the house but on the opposite side of the street. The lady came over and asked to borrow our phone. She finally calmed down and we talked to her for a few minutes then she returned home. Yupp interesting day in Jackson! Well when I returned to the apartment in ridgeland We thought Borja and Kyes would be there. No sign of them. And the doors were locked and they weren't answering their phone. We decided to go find food else where, then it started POURING! Hello flash flood warning that we aren't allowed to drive in. so we sat and waited and waited until it finally cleared and went to eat. The sky was AMAZING!
Wednesday and Thursday not much happened because sister Borja had a sinus infection and her medicine wasn't helping and I had a cold. Yay! we are mostly all better now thankfully.
Friday was great. We met some neat people and had a few lessons.
Saturday we taught Mara with sister Law! the lesson was so so so Good! annnnnd we set a new baptismal date for Mara! Keep her in your prayers. her mom is really against it and its hard for her but she really really wants to get baptized. we also went to flora and we were visiting some less actives on our list and found some really neat people while tracting!
Sunday Joel came to church again. And again everyone wants to know why we aren't teaching him!? Mara also came and she had her interview with the Bishop. We are so excited for her!
Well that was my week. I love my mission. AND I LOVE YOU ALL! Have a wonderful week! I'm off to the Jackson Zoo with some other sisters!
