The week was good. I'm good. I love my mission. Have a good week.
But then you'd all miss out on the goodness that filled my week!
The Jackson Zoo... well it's kinda a joke but the company was good! We tought we'd go for an afternoon trip and so we arrived at about 3:15pm. Sister Borja and I drove with the STL's to save on miles and to spend some extra time with some sisters we just love. Sister Cox and sister Dutton joined us there. Upon arrival, we found out that the zoo was closing at 4. Yay we had 45 minutes to buy tickets and see all the animals! Giraffes, peeing monkeys, zebras,Birds eating mice (we might have been in the zoo after it closed and it was feeding time), a really fat turtle, some fighting leopards, what we think may have been a bear, cougars and a rhino! Oh and an orangutan! Unfortunately for sister Borja we couldn't find the Alligators. She REALLY wanted to see some. Later we found out there are lots at the reservoir by our house! maybe we will go Alligator watching later Haha. the rest of the animals had been put away and we walking through this rainforest area when it started POURING. we were soaked and decided to head home. of course when we got to the car it stopped and the sun was shining. We had some otter pops that the STLs brought in a cooler and we were off. Then on the way home we talked about secret talents and sister Keyes showed us hers. it was quite hilarious!
Mara had us for dinner. It was yummy and she sent an extra pan of it home or us. she's so kind! We taught her about tithing and fast offerings! it was great. she has so many great questions. Things are still hard with her mom not wanting her to be baptized but Mara is so excited.
Tuesday while tracting we met a lady named Paula. Her little boy didn't sound too happy and she asked us to come by on Wednesday. In the evening we mowed Sister Berthelsons lawn. I love her and love to help her out in any way that I can.
Wednesday after DDM we had lunch then we went to Mara's to pick something up. She had been having a hard time the past two nights because of some family issues regarding her Baptism. She is still pushing along though! We went back to Paula's, the lady we met the day before. SHE WAS AMAZING! We taught her about how important the family is to our Heavenly Father and about the restored Gospel and we are going back this Wednesday! As long as her baby isn't born before that. Any way she said she never lets anyone in her home who she doesn't know but she is glad she did! oh & her little boy is 2 and he is just precious! That evening sister Taco took us out to go Visiting teaching at a less actives home. What a blessing it is to have a Spanish speaking companion! The father spoke only Spanish and while we were actually going to meet with his wife we spent the whole time talking to him and he agreed to have us come back and re teach the lessons! It was great! well from what I understood it was great:)
Thursday we taught Juaquina. The Restoration video is amazing every time I watch it and even when I watch it in SPANISH! Fortunately I had watched it so many times in English I understood a lot of it in Spanish. We asked her to be baptized and she said she would pray about it because it is a big commitment! Yes it is! and we are happy that she understands that. While tracting, we met Brenda who was so kind and asked us to come back this week and we also met Dee! We talked with Dee for a good bit of time and taught her some of the first part of the message of the Restoration. She asked us to go back on Saturday morning. SHE is AMAZING! While walking back to our car we met Frank. We are going back to see his family this Thursday! He actually attends the Pentecostal church we went to last week! His family is so sweet. they are an older couple and have a sweet daughter who is home bound who lives with them. So then we were late to dinner with Sarah Allman's family but they are so kind and didn't mind. I love That family so much. They made Red beans and rice. Its so yummy! and their little girls are just so cute!
Friday was HOT. my goodness I try not to complain too much about the heat here because I know its just gonna get worse but my goodness. ok that's it, it was hot now I'm done complaining. So funny story about tracting.. We saw this man mowing his lawn from down the road he looked like a sweet old man and he waved to us. when we reached his house he said "Are you the Jehovah's witnesses?" "No the Mormons" we said with a smile. Then with a disgusted look he yelled "Oh even worse!" We asked him why he thought that and he said something about 911 and started mowing again. We just had to laugh, he seemed so sweet. Dinner was at the Campbells, and they invited sister Berthelson over:) then we tried some people bishop Campbell asked us to check in on and found, after lots of driving, none of them lived there anymore.
Saturday we went back to teach Dee! the lesson went great. She said that if we could get her a large print BOM she would like to read it. and we are going back next Saturday. Sister Roberts went with us to teach Mara. Can I just say lessons with members are AMAZING! GO GO GO! Go out with the missionaries in your area! Everyone involved will greatly benefit from it! Mara loved hearing sister Roberts story. She also had issues with her family about the church but they have all been resolved and her mother loves us! Her testimony was amazing. We are so grateful to her for being willing to go with us.
Sunday we were tracting and met more great people! One lady opened the door and said come in. we started teaching and shortly after, her husband joined us. They asked great questions and answered questions and were just awesome! Jennifer, the wife agreed to read the BOM and said we could come back. We tried some more people Bishop Campbell asked us to try. one had moved but the other said we could call him and come back!
The work is truly hastening! The week was AMAZING! I love my companion. I love this work. I love where I'm serving! I am truly blessed each and everyday. I do miss my family but I KNOW it's worth it. Shout out to the greatest cousins in the world and to two awesome aunts! Thanks so much, that mail made me smile! I'll be writing letters today! Love you all!
