Hi all! What a week! well last week on Wednesday President told me I would be leaving but didnt tell me where I was going. I kinda already had a feeling I would be leaving Madison since I had been there all 6 months of my mission but at the same time I was hoping I could stay just a little longer because I love the people there so much! The madison ward is wonderful. Saturday we missed our call from President! Oh no! I was told that if you miss the transfer call you won't find out until the end of the night when he is finished calling all the companionships. Well it was 1030 when he called and I didnt think I would be able to wai the whole day! I called him back.... no answer! then we started driving to Mara's for her recent member lesson and on the way got a call from President! I was so glad I wouldn't have to wait all day to hear my fate. He told me I would be going to Petal and Sister Sellers would be my new companion! Heavenly father had definitly been preparing me for this transfer knowing it would be hard to leave Madison. Petal is where my trainer, Sister Schulthies, was born. Petal was also where my MTC companion was trained. Actually I was taking my MTC companion's place. My new companion was trained in Madison and just the week before a few members had mentioned her and said some wonderful things about her. When I was told where I was going I was overjoyed! I had never heard anything but positivity about both the area and Sister Sellers. So I said my goodbyes and packed my bags. On Monday night Mara made sure to feed me a delicous meal of roast, potatoes and carrots! so yummy!
It was so weird to leave Madison on Tuesday morning. Up until that point the Jackson area was the only thing I had known on my mission! Six months and I had never left the area! My life was about to change! T-point was fun and I loved seeing lots of missionary friends. The new missionaries were there and I felt a little older even though I still felt so new. I was officially no longer a greenie! I was able to meet the new sister who would be replacing me. Sister Richards came fresh off the plane from the MTC and had the pleasure of having Sister Borja train her! They will have fun! I also met a new sister whose sister was one of my roomates at college! that was neat.
We drove to Hattiesburg and my companion wasnt there! It's ok she was just at lunch and I saw her soon enough:) Just as everyone said, SHE IS AMAZING! I love her. And she went to cosmotology school so she cuts hair! I'm due for a haircut!
The week has been wonderful! I love Petal! It's a little country town and people have sweet southern accents! The ward takes real good care of us missionaries. We went to a members home and they asked where I was from. California. Well we were going to teach a lesson to the son kody and his fiance who had recently joined the church. so they took us to this room and the father, Brother Hill says you cant take her up there, they're all liberals in California it'll scare her. I had no clue what was up there but I was interested to find out! When I walked in I just laughed! it was their kill room! haha they had lots of mounted deer, and birds and even a bear. Sorry I guess you cant scare this California girl. I went back down and told brother Hill a little more about my family...
The Hills have a daughter who is leaving on a mission tomorrow so on saturday we helped them get some things ready for the farewell party. I really love my mission! I know this is exactly where I am supposed to be and I am greatful for this opportunity. recently I was reading in Ether and pondering the faith of the Brother of Jared. He was an ordinary man who made mistakes but he had such great faith that he was able to see Jesus Christ. We can all do more to strengthen our Faith no matter our ssittuation. Go out and serve the Lord.
I love you all! Hope all is well!
